The Russian Imperial Foundation was launched in 2013 by Grand Duke George of Russia, marking the 400th anniversary of the Romanov dynasty’s ascension to the Russian throne. Based in the UK, it operates as a charitable NGO focusing on health, environmental, and emergency relief initiatives. While the foundation originally prioritized oncology—it has broadened its scope, working to establish medical research grants, environmental projects, and immediate humanitarian aid. Activities have included funding studies, sponsoring conservation efforts, and supporting disaster relief in Russia and internationally.
The Foundation exists under the patronage of HIH Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna, and is run by her sone Grand Duke George Mikhailovich and his wife Princess Victoria Romanovna. The Foundation is still growing, and aims to model the philanthropic traditions of the old Russian Empire through modern charitable work rooted in Romanov legacy and broader social responsibility.
