Imperial Order of Saint Michael the Archangel
Established in 1988 by the Head of the Russian Imperial House, H.I.H. Sovereign Grand Duke Vladimir Kirillovich in honor of the Thousandth anniversary of the Baptism of Rus, and the Fiftieth anniversary of his accession to the Headship of the Imperial House in 1938. Originally awarded in one class to honor those who had fought against Communism, the Order was reorganized by the Grand Duchess Maria in 2013, the Four Hundredth anniversary of the House of Romanov, into an order that honors and promotes philanthropic and cultural achievement.
