Order of St. Alexander Nevsky
Established on May 21, 1725, by Empress Catherine I, who created this Order in fulfillment of the intentions of Empress Peter I “the Great”.
Members of the Russian Imperial House are hereditary holders of this Order and receive it together with the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called: Grand Dukes recieve it at Holy Baptism and Princes of the Blood Imperial upon reaching dynastic majority.
The Order is also awarded to members of Royal Houses, as well as to distinguished Russians who have served their country with honor through political or military service.
