His Serene Highness Prince Alexander Georgievich Romanoff, the eldest child and son of Grand Duke George and Princess Victoria Romanovna was born in Moscow on 21 October, 2022, the first member of the Imperial House to be born within the borders of the Russian empire since 1917. [1]. The same day, Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna issued the following announcement via the Imperial Chancellery:
On October 21, 2022, Our daughter-in-law, Her Serene Highness Princess Victoria Romanovna, the spouse of Our son and heir His Imperial Highness The Tsesarevich and Grand Duke George of Russia, was delivered of a son, Our grandson, who has been given the name Alexander.
Welcoming this new addition to Our Family as a sign of God’s grace, I ask all Our countrymen to offer fervent prayers to the Almighty for the health and well-being of the newborn. In accordance with Our current Family Law and the Family Act of September 14/27, 2020, Our grandson will be called His Serene Highness Prince Alexander Georgievich.
On 6 December (23 November by the Julian Calendar) 2022, the feast day of Great Prince St. Alexander Nevsky, His Serene Highness Prince Alexander Georgievich was baptized into the Holy Orthodox Church at the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour. The infant was christened with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, the sacraments of Holy Baptism and Chrismation were served by His Eminence Metropolitan Dionysius of Voskresensk, along with Mitred Archpriest Michael Protopopov, who came from Australia to help officiate at the services; Archpriest Alexander Tkachenko, the Chairman of the Executive Board of the Circle of Kindness charity; Hieromonk Nikon (Levachev-Belavenets), the head of the Office for Historical and Memorial Activities of the Her Imperial Highness’s Chancellery; and clergy from the New Saviour Monastery in Moscow, Fr. Ioann Ignatov and Fr. Vladimir Ignatov.
The godmothers of the prince included: HRH Princess Olga, Duchess of Aosta; Helene Bagration y Kirby, Countess Dvinskaya; Princess Elizabeth Lopoukhina; Mme. Oxana Girko; and Mme. Yulia Abrosina. His godfathers included Prince Joachim Murat, Prince of Pontecorvo; Prince Michael Orlov (the son of HRH Princess Fadia of Egypt); and Prince Stephane Belosselsky-Belozersky.
The prince lives with his parents, who actively guard his privacy.

Prince Alexander’s relative, Princess Catherine Ioannovna was, in 1915, the last member of the Imperial House born before the collapse of the Empire. His great-grandfather, Grand Duke Vladimir Kirillovich, was the last Romanov born on the territory of the former Russian Empire in August of 1917.
